Common conclave of Associate Banks of SBI – A Brief Report
REPORT ON THE COMMON CONCLAVE OF DIRECTORS OF RSETIs SPONSORED BY ASSOCIATE BANKS OF STATE BANK OF INDIA HELD ON 23rd and 24th MAY 2012 AT INFO TECH ACADEMY, STATE BANK OF PATIALA, PATIALA
A 2-day Conclave of Directors of RSETIs sponsored by the Associate Banks of State Bank of India was held on 23rd and 24th May 2012 at Info Tech Academy of State Bank of Patiala, Patiala wherein the Directors from following banks participated:
- State Bank of Patiala
- State Bank o Bikaner and Jaipur
- State Bank of Travancore
- State Bank of Mysore
The conclave was inaugurated by none other than Sri Achal Kumar Gupta, Managing Director of State Bank of Patiala. In his inaugural address, Sri Gupta said that it is a matter of pride for State Bank of Patiala to host the common conclave of the RSETI Directors sponsored by Associate Banks of State Bank of India at Patiala. Speaking on the present economic situation in the country Sri Gupta said that it is a serious challenge for the Government to provide employment to all the unemployed youth in the country and in this direction, it is a step in the right direction by the Ministry of Rural Development to open RSETIs in every district of the country to train the unemployed youth to take up self employment ventures. Continuing his address he said that State Bank of Patiala is deeply committed to the cause of training the unemployed youth and assured the Ministry and the Monitoring Cell that the Bank will do everything possible to strengthen the RSETIs sponsored by the Bank.
Sri J C Das, General Manager of the Bank in his key note address said that the Bank is eagerly looking forward to taking the RSETI movement to greater heights. It shall be the endeavour of the Bank to ensure that all the RSETIs sponsored by Associate Banks of State Bank of India come to the level of best performing RUDSETI in the country.
Thereafter Sri K N Janardhan Chief Project Co-ordinator, Monitoring Cell for RSETIs, National Academy of RUDSETI made a presentation on the Expectations by Ministry of Rural Development in taking the RSETI movement on the lines of RUDSETI model. He also requested the Bank executives to provide all support to the RSETIs so that the Directors can play a pivotal role in addressing the unemployment problem. Sri K N Janardhana later on gave a brief overview of the Conclave and requested the Bank officials and the Directors to receive the inputs with all its seriousness so that the RSETI, a concept replicated from the successful RUDSETI model can be a boon to the unemployed youth in the country. He also spoke about the initiative of MoRD for Grading of RSETIs to bring in a spirit of healthy competition among various RSETIs and also introduction of uniform MIS for the RSETIs.
To begin with, Sri M R Jayesha, Dy General Manager, State Bank of Patiala welcomed the dignitaries and gave a over view of the initiatives taken by the State Bank as a group in the field of RSETI movement.
This was followed by a Micro Lab exercise administered to the participants by Sri K N Nagendra Babu, Director, Monitoring Cell for RSETIs to unfreeze the participants of their inhibitions. After the lunch break, Sri Nagendra Babu continued his session on Motivation – why and how? Identification of training needs and explained to the participants the importance of involvement of the RSETI Director in successfully giving training to the unemployed youth.
Thereafter Sri K N Janardhana, CPC took a session on ‘Journey from RUDSETI to RSETI’ wherein he briefed the participants about the MoRD guidelines in running the RSETIs successfully. In his presentation Sri K N Janardhana highlighted the role of sponsoring banks in providing requisite support to the RSETIs which will go a long way in meeting the objectives and philosophy of MoRD, GOI. Sri K N Janardhana also assured all the participants present in the Conclave that the Monitoring Cell is ready to walk an extra mile with them in accomplishing the objectives of MoRD in propagating RSETIs in the country.
The 2nd day of the Conclave started with a prayer followed by presentation of MILLY by few Directors. This was followed by an interactive session by Sri O N Bansal, Project Director for RSETIs, NIRD,Hyderabad, wherein the issues pertaining to allotment of land and progress under construction of new campuses were discussed. Sri Bansal interacted individually with all the Directors on issues pertaining to allotment of land / construction of building and assured that NIRD will sincerely attempt to address all their issues relating to allotment of land and construction of building at the earliest.
This was followed by a session by Sri K N Janardhana on Methods of generation of applications, selection of candidates for trainings, methodology of organizing Entrepreneurship Awareness/motivation camps etc. All these inputs helped the participants to understand the concept of RUDSETI in a better way.
Thereafter Sri K N Janardhana took review of the performance of all the RSETIs in the presence of Bank’s executives. All the Directors made individual presentation highlighting the Training Programs organized by them till March 2012 and the same were reviewed thoroughly bringing out a SWOT of both the Director and the RSETI.
The valedictory function was graced by Sri. Rakesh Kaushal, Asst. General Manager and Principal of Info Tech Academy of State Bank of Patiala. Few Directors gave the feedback about the inputs they received from the officials from Monitoring Cell for RSETIs and felt that these inputs helped them in a big way in effectively discharging their duties as Directors of the RSETIs. In his valedictory address Sri Kaushal advised the RSETI Directors to be proud of their assignment as their efforts will help the country in mitigating the problems of the unemployed youth. He assured MoRD and Monitoring Cell that the Bank is committed to address the gaps identified in the Conclave by Monitoring Cell, NAR so that RSETIs sponsored by their Bank will become vibrant and discharge duties on the lines expected of MoRD.
