National Director for RSETIs

The National Director for RSETIs, an Executive on deputation to the Exclusive cell of National Academy of RUDSETI either from SyndicateBank or Canara Bank directly reporting to Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, President, National Academy of RUDSETI, will take care of the entire monitoring mechanism of functioning of RSETIs in the country. He will be the head of the Exclusive cell of NAR for monitoring of RSETIs. The National Director for RSETIs will take care of the entire monitoring system of RSETIs in the country.

Role & Responsibilities of National Director for RSETIs :

  • National Director for RSETIs will appoint the State Directors for RSETIs through a committee put in place by the President of NAR for effective monitoring of RSETIs in each State. These State Directors for RSETIs will report to National Director for RSETIs.
  • National Director for RSETIs shall be the link between MORD/NIRD/Stake holders of RSETIs/State Govts.
  • Convening the quarterly Advisory Council Meeting of RSETIs.
  • At monthly intervals, shall take up surprise visits to minimum of 3 - 4 offices of the State Directors for RSETIs to monitor their performance and visit to 2 – 3 RSETIs for review and guidance.
  • To identify selection of eligible institutes/individual Directors for Annual Awards and other incentives by placing proper systems and procedures.

Taking into consideration the expertise and exposure Sri K N Janardhana had in RUDSETI in the capacity as Executive Director, the Hon.Chairman Dr D Veerendra Heggade, requested SyndicateBank to depute him to head the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs as its National Director for RSETIs. Accordingly SyndicateBank, one of the sponsors of RUDSETI/NAR deputed Sri K N Janardhana for the post.

 

Profile of Sri K N Janardhana

A Post Graduate in M.Sc. [Agri], Sri Janardhana started his career in 1984 as Rural Development Officer of SyndicateBank and worked in various rural branches in North Karnataka. Thereafter, he worked as Director of RUDSETI, Udupi for two years and then four years in the Priority Sector Wing of the Bank. From 2003 onwards, he served the Bank as Lead District Manager of Noida, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Bellary in Karnataka State.

He underwent training at EDII, Ahmedabad, BIRD, Lucknow and NIBM, Pune in the field of entrepreneurship. He is an experienced State Level Jaycee Trainer in Personality Development. He is a Rotarian too. He is a regular visiting faculty at CAB, Pune and BIRD, Lucknow. He has actively participated in the State / National/ international level workshops / meetings organized in connection with promoting RUDSETI/ RSETI Movement.

From May 2007 onwards, he worked as Executive Director of RUDSET Institutes from Ujire, Dharmasthala, Karnataka where he brought out various reforms in improving the quality of the administration and training at all the RUDSET Institutes apart from opening 6 new RUDSET Institutes in various parts of the Country. During this period, majority of the Institutes had the privilege of having their own beautiful campuses with all the logistics put in place. Sri Janardhana was instrumental in organizing Silver Jubilee function of RUDSETI in 2008 and on this grand gala occasion National Academy of RUDSETI (NAR), in commemoration of silver jubilee of RUDSETI was dedicated to the Nation as a resource organization for National Level Training to RSETI Directors. This is the silver lining in the achievements of Sri K N Janardhana. In September 2010 Sri Janardhana was promoted as Chief Manager of SyndicateBank.

During his tenure as Executive Director of RUDSETI, Sri Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, the then Union Minister for Rural Development, visited RUDSETI, Ujire and impressed by the overwhelming success of RUDSETI, he took steps to replicate RUDSETI type Institutes pan India in the name of RSETIs. At this juncture, series of National level meetings took place involving Sri. K.N. Janardhana, ED: RUDSETI as a consultant and MoRD announced mega plan of launching RSETI movement in the Country & accordingly advised all nationalized banks to open RSETIs in all their lead districts in the Country. With the initiatives from MoRD, between 2009 and 2011, 354 RSETIs became operational in majority of the Districts as at June 2011.

MoRD signed an MOU with Dr. Veerendra Heggade at Dharmasthala on 29.07.2011. As per MOU, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs was established at Bangalore. Looking at the contribution as well as passion and commitment of Sri K N Janardhana in RUDSETI in taking it to newer heights, Dr D Veerendra Heggade requested SyndicateBank to depute Sri K N Janardhan to Ministry of Rural Development to head the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs as the Chief Project Co-ordinator where he is in-charge of mentoring and monitoring all the RSETIs across India.

In commemoration of one year of establishing NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs , Sri K N Janardhana took the lead in organizing a grand function at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 28.7.2012 to honour the best performing RSETIs in the country.

The RSETI movement, under the leadership of Sri. Janardhana, is attracting the attention of bureaucracy at all levels and to know more about this movement. Sri Janardhana was invited by none other than Prime Minister’s office on 20.05.2013 to make a presentation on the RSETI concept to the executives at the Office of the Advisor to Prime Minister, National Council on Skill Development to enable them to understand the implementation of skill development through RSETIs in a holistic manner.

In commemoration of the 2nd Anniversary of signing of MOU, the Ministry of Rural Development organized Second National meet of RSETI stakeholders for recognition of best performers on 21.11.2013 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. During this glittering function Sri K N Janardhana was felicitated by Sri Jairam Ramesh, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development, Govt. of India and Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, National Advisory Council for RSETIs in the presence of Sri L C Goyal, Secretary and Sri T Vijay Kumar, Joint Secretary, MoRD, Sri Sudhir Kumar Jain, CMD of SyndicateBank and Sri R K Dubey, CMD, Canara Bank and other top level officials both from participating Banks and State Governments for his exemplary leadership in effectively mentoring and monitoring all the RSETIs across the country. This is a feather in the cap of Sri K N Janardhan.

Meeting with Sri Nitin Gadkari, Honorable Minister for Road Transport, Shipping and Rural Development (Former)

As advised by Dr D Veerendra Heggadeji, Hon. Co-Chairman, National Advisory Council for RSETIs, Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs (under the aegis of MoRD), met Sri Nitin Gadkari, Honorable Minister for Road Transport, Shipping and Rural Development at his residence at Nagpur on 06.09.2014 and explained to him the various activities being conducted by RSETIs under the visionary leadership of Dr D Veerendra Heggadeji, Hon. Co-Chairman, National Advisory Council for RSETIs and requested him to support the RSETI movement to take it forward. The Honorable Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by the sponsoring Institutes of RUDSETIs/ RSETIs, the significant impact made by these Institutes and also the commitment shown. He assured of his full support to the RSETI movement in whatsoever manner required to take the movement forward.

Among the many papers presented by Sri Janardhana, both in India and abroad, a few worth mentioning are:

  • a paper on “Women Empowerment through RUDSETI” at an International Conference held in Thailand in 2009-10.
  • a paper on “RSETI movement in India in addressing unemployment problem” at Philippines organized by Asian Development Bank, Manila during the year 2011-12.
  • a paper on “Rural Development and Self-employment Training Institute (RSETI) – New Wave of Social Change” at Malaysia organized by Ministry of Education, Malaysia during the year 2013-14

Other assignments

  • Looking at the capabilities and the resourcefulness in the field of entrepreneurship development, Punjab National Bank and Bank of India have nominated Sri K N Janardhana, as a trustee on the Board of Trustees for RSETIs

In recognition of his yeomen service in the field of RSETI, Sri K N Janardhana has bagged many State/ National level awards. The gist is as follows:

Sri. Janardhana has bagged the “Dr. K. Shivaram Karanth Sadbhavan Award” during 2008.

Sri K N Janardhana was conferred with “SERVICE EXTRAORDINAIRE AWARD” by Rotary Bangalore, Vijayanagar Club (RI Dist 3190) for the contribution made by him in empowering the rural unemployed populace of our country through the intervention from Rural Self Employment Training Institutes across the Country.

Sri K N Janardhana was felicitated by Dr D Veerendra Heggadeji on the occasion of his transfer from Central Secretariat, Ujire to NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs (under the aegis of MoRD)

Sri M Bhagavantha Rao, Managing Director, State Bank of Hyderabad felicitated Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs for his outstanding contribution in revolutionizing the RSETI Movement in India on 6th January 2014 at Hyderabad.

Sri M Narendra, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Overseas Bank felicitated Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs on 17.12.2013 at Chennai for his remarkable achievement in taking the RSETI movement to greater heights at all India level.

Sri S Chandrasekharan, Executive Director, UCO Bank felicitated Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs for his outstanding contribution in spearheading the RSETI Movement across India on 18th January 2014 at Kolkata.

Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs has been conferred with prestigious All India Technical and Management Council (AITMC) award for excellence in Self-employment and Entrepreneurship Development on 16th December 2014 at a glittering ceremony held at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi. The award was given by Sri Krishna Pal Gurjarji, Minister of State for Social Justice, Government of India.

Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs, NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs has also been awarded “Anantha Aanimuthyam” for his contribution in the field of Self-employment / entrepreneurship development by M/s. Sahithi Gaganamahal Trust (Regd), Penukonda, Ananthapuramu and is receiving the award on 31.01.2015.

Sri. Janardhana is a man full of passion and commitment. Being a Banker, he is more into social activities. He loves extensive tour, meeting people and making friends and has taken the task of spreading the RSETI movement all over India and has brought name and fame to RSETI movement in the Country. If at all RSETI has become a buzzword today it is all because of his continued hand holding at national levels to all the stakeholders.

In the entire Country, all the stakeholders look at Sri K N Janardhana for any clarification on RSETI movement as he has become a walking encyclopedia on RSETI movement. Thus it is no wonder that Sri K N Janardhana has become synonymous with RSETI. From 15th May 2014 onwards, he has been promoted by SyndicateBank as Asst. General Manager, which is treated by Ministry of Rural Development as being equivalent to Dy General Manager. Whatever has been achieved in the field of RSETI movement, Sri K N Janardhana fondly remembers, is due to the continued support and blessings of Dr D Veerendra Heggadeji and he owes everything to him.

Paper Presentation by National Director for RSETIs at an International Workshop at Manila, Philipines

Sri K N Janardhana, National Director for RSETIs was invited to present a paper in the Joint Workshop organized by ADB-OECD [Asian Development Bank and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development] held at Manila, Philipines on 27th and 28th February, 2012. The subject matter of the Workshop was “Gender in Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship [3Es] in India, Indonesia and the People’s Republic of China”. On this occasion, Sri.Janardhan presented a paper on the initiatives of Government of India by rolling out National Rural Livelihood Mission [NRLM] to address poverty among BPL families by enabling the poor households through forming Self Help Groups and to bring improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis.

All these was possible because of the continued guidance and support that he received from
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Dharmasthala.

On transfer from the post of Executive Director, RUDSETI Sri Janardhana is presently the National Director for RSETIs heading the office of the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE OF RSETIs at Bangalore.
