Conclave of RSETI Directors of Punjab National Bank – A Brief Report
A 2-day Conclave of PNBRSETI Directors was held on 01-02.12.2011 at Bank’s Central Staff College, Delhi. To begin with, Sri G. Banerjee, General Manager, Priority Sector Advances of PNB welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. The Conclave was inaugurated by Sri Rakesh Sethi, Executive Director of the Bank. In his inaugural address, Sri Rakesh Sethi, also Chairman of PNBCRDT, informed that PNBRSETIs have so far trained 27678 candidates and the notable part is that out of this, 9986 candidates i.e. 36% have been able to earn their livelihood on their own. He lauded the support of MoRD, Monitoring Cell for RSETIs, Banglore and NIRD Hyderabad and the role of PNBRSETI Directors in enabling the Trust to accomplish this landmark achievement. He emphasized that Directors should focus on quality training so that objective of settlement of trainees is achieved in letter and spirit. He assured that the Bank will walk an extra mile in accomplishing the objectives of the MORD in establishing RSETIs in all their lead districts in the country.
Ms. Renuka Kumar, Deputy Secretary, MoRD, Govt. of India, in her key note address deliberated upon the concept of RSETIs, expectations of the Govt. and the role of Banks and other agencies. She informed that PNB is not only number one in business parameters but also number one among all nationalized Banks in the RSETI movement. She wished that the Bank will maintain this numero uno position in times to come and assured all support from MoRD. Thereafter she made a presentation on the expectations from the Ministry in taking the RSETI movement on the lines of RUDSETI model based on which RSETIs have been replicated. She also requested the bank authorities to provide all support to the RSETIs sponsored by the Bank so that the Directors can bring about the results expected of them from the Ministry.
Soon after the inaugural session, Sri D T Ramanuja, Director, NAR administered Micro Lab, an exercise to unfreeze the participants of their inhibitions. After the lunch break, Sri K N Janardhana presented a paper on ‘Journey from RUDSETI to RSETI’ and briefed the participants about the MoRD guidelines in running the RSETIs successfully. In his presentation Sri Janardhana highlighted the role of sponsoring banks in providing support to the RSETIs which will go a long way in meeting the objectives and philosophy of MORD, GOI. This was followed by series of sessions by Sri D T Ramanuja on topics like Motivation – why and how?, Identification of Training needs, Methods of generation of applications, Selection of candidates for trainings Methodology of organizing entrepreneurship awareness / motivation camps etc. This helped the participants to drive home the concept of RUDSETI.
The 2nd day of the Conclave started with a prayer followed by presentation of MILLY by few Directors. This was followed by an interaction by Sri Bansal, Mentor for RSETIs, NIRD, Hyderabad, wherein the issues pertaining to allotment of land and progress under construction of new campuses were discussed. Sri Bansal interacted individually with all the Directors and heard their problems in the area of allotment of land / construction of building and assured that NIRD will address all their issues relating to allotment of land and construction of building at the earliest.
Thereafter, the review of the performance of the RSETIs was taken up jointly by Sri K N Janardhana and K N Nagendra Babu. All the Directors made individual presentation of the Skill Development / Training Programs being undertaken by them and the same were reviewed at length together with a SWOT of both the Director and the RSETI.
After review of the performance of each RSETI, the officials from the Monitoring Cell brought to the notice of the Bank officials the deficiencies observed in each RSETI and requested their immediate intervention to set right the same so as to enable all the RSETIs to work on the lines best performing RUDSETI.
