Inauguration of the Office of the Monitoring Cell for RSETIs
The inaugural function of the office of the Monitoring Cell for RSETIs, was held at Vijayanagar Club, Bangalore on 20th December 2011 wherein Dr D Veerendra Heggade, President, National Academy of RUDSETI presided over the function.
The Chief Guest of the function Sri K Jairaj, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of Karnataka in his inaugural address lauded the contribution of RUDSETI in addressing the unemployment problem in the country. The RUDSETI concept has spread all over India because of the value based training imparted to trainees which enable them to take up self-employment. All this has been possible because of the visionary leadership of Dr D Veerendra Heggade and the able support of two financial Institutions i.e. SyndicateBank and Canara Bank, he said.
Sri T Vijay Kumar, IAS, Jt Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India who delivered key note address observed that RUDSETI has its presence only in 16 States. As RUDSETI is expected to be a role model for other RSETIs in the State, he requested Dr D Veerendra Heggade and the sponsoring banks to ensure that at least one RUDSETI is opened in the States where it do not have its presence. He also complimented the Karnataka State Government which is known for all round development in the area of rural development and requested Additional Chief Secretary Sri Jairaj to make the State as a Resource State for the rest of the country. He acknowledged the continued patronage of the sponsors of RUDSETI under the visionary leadership of Dr D Veerendra Heggade and assured the Bankers as well as other stake holders of RSETI movement all the requisite support from the Central Government.
Sri S Raman, Chairman and Managing Director, Canara Bank and Sri Ravi Chattergee, Executive Director of Syndicate Bank pledged their continued support to the cause of RUDSETI movement and assured Government of India that both the Banks with strong ethos and values will walk an extra mile in carrying the movement forward. Both the Executives spoke on the relevance of bank linkage to the RSETI trained entrepreneurs. In his presidential address Dr D Veerendra Heggade recalled the days of 1982 when RUDSETI was established. Over the years, the concept has grown manifold and when the Government of India approached him to take up the mantle of Hon. Chairman of National Advisory Council for RSETIs to monitor and mentor over 500 RSETIs in the country he was overwhelmed by the confidence the GOI has reposed on him. He was elated that the humble experiment which started in a small village has assumed national significance in addressing unemployment problem of the country. He thanked the sponsors of RUDSETI i.e. Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank for their unstinted support over the years. He was all in praise for the pro-active role played by Sri Vijay Kumar, Jt Secretary, MORD in spearheading the RSETI movement in the country.

Earlier Sri K N Janardhana, Chief Project Co-ordinator, Monitoring Cell for RSETIs on deputation from Syndicate Bank mentioned in brief about the programme and welcomed the dignitaries and other participants.
The inaugural function was attended by a galaxy of top executives of both the sponsor banks, a host of other officials and RUDSETI well wishers from other Banks and Government Departments.
