National Level Workshop on Self-Employment for the Rural Poor

A “National Level Workshop on Self-Employment for the Rural Poor” was organised by Ministry of Skill Development on 14.01.2016 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, to scale up the operations and to augment the capacity of RSETIs through hub-and-spoke model with Satellite Centres. Sri Chaudhary Birender Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister for Rural Development, Govt. of India presided over the function.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has proposed to set up Satellite Centres for imparting skill training to beneficiaries. These centres will be set up by NGOs/Corporates and manned by two Faculty members and one Office Assistant each, besides involving guest faculty members for imparting technical skills. The Satellite Centres will function under the RSETIs of the respective Districts and will be monitored by RSETI as well as by NACER. Top executives from all the Banks and officials from National Level NGOs, NDR, NACER took part in the workshop, which was attended by Sri Atal Dulloo, JS, MoRD, Sri Santosh Mathews, JS, Skills, MoRD and other senior officials from MoRD.
